3D, 4D and 5D ultrasounds use a series of sound waves that are undetectable to the human ear. These are the same frequency used by the ultrasound clinics your doctor or midwife refers you to for 2D ultrasounds. Ultrasounds have been used since the 1950s and there have been no proven side effects from its proper use and the use of proper equipment.
Some babies are camera-ready, while others may be camera-shy! At JellyBean we strive to obtain the best images possible at the time of your scan. There are many things out of our control and some factors that may hinder image quality include the baby’s position, placental position, amount of amniotic fluid, maternal body type and how active the baby is at the time of the scan. If your baby is a bit shy and no images can be obtained, we will ask you to take a quick walk. If this still doesn’t help, we will rebook you for one more attempt at no extra cost.
That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in twice. For this, we highly recommend our Combo Package as the best option to see both gestational stages. The first time is usually around 18 to 26 weeks. This is when you can see the baby as a whole and watch them move around. Between 25 to 34 weeks your baby will be more developed for better chubby-cheeks images. After 34 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room in the belly. All babies are unique though and even more so when twins are expected. Twins are best seen at 26 weeks.
Gender determination scans can be performed as early as 14 weeks. If the ultrasound’s purpose is to provide reassurance, scans can be done at any time from 10 weeks, as long as your pregnancy due date has been determined by a diagnostic ultrasound.
Research has shown that being hydrated influences the amount of amniotic fluid. So, we have a better chance of visualizing your baby if you are hydrated. Unless you are instructed by your medical professional not to, about 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment with us, we recommend you drink a glass of fruit juice so that your baby will be awake for your session. We find orange juice works best. Drink plenty of water, even several days before your appointment to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear. In earlier pregnancies, it is also best to have a full bladder during your scan as the bladder acts as a window ensuring the bladder displaces any structures that could obscure visualization of the baby. Finally, please wear a separate top and bottom to your appointment to expose your bump easily for the ultrasound.
Yes. Guests are always welcome, and we encourage siblings to be present. We found the inclusion of siblings-to-be during the ultrasound experience makes it more of a reality and helps the transition from only child to a big brother or big sister easier. We only request you to please make sure that your little ones do not touch the equipment (it is very tempting).
Please ensure that you cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours prior to the time. This allows other expecting families on our waiting list the opportunity to see their baby when you no longer can.

Our ultrasounds are purely to provide keepsake images and do not replace any medical investigations required by your doctor or midwife. Due to this elective, non-diagnostic nature, you will not be eligible for a rebate or be able to claim from your private health fund.
No. JellyBean Imaging is an elective, non-diagnostic, prenatal ultrasound and is used for memorable purposes only. We do not require any referrals and there is no additional non-resident fee.
No. This is an elective, bonding ultrasound for keepsake. We do not contact your healthcare professional. If you have any concerns, need to confirm your due date, trying to screen for fetal anomalies, or any other pregnancy-relate diagnostics, you should ask your doctor or midwife for their professional assistance. Ultrasound technicians, in general, are not authorized to make diagnostic judgements.

We accept cash, eftpos or online payments . If paying by cash, please ensure you have the correct amount for the package chosen as we do not always have change on hand.
Gender is completely optional. We can always keep it a secret for those parents that want to have the ultimate surprise! It also isn’t always 100%. If you would like to know th gender of your baby and we cannot determine it at your appointment (baby’s back is towards us, legs are crossed, etc.) we will reschedule, free of charge, within two weeks of the appointment. For these situations, we recommend that you only schedule your gender reveal after the determination is made.
